The Deschutes Basin Land Trust manages the property to protect and restore fish and wildlife habitat, actively manage the forest for old-growth stand conditions, provide for recreational use consistent with restoration goals, and offer public interpretation, education, and research opportunities.

To assist the Land Trust in fund raising, J.T. Atkins & Company PC prepared a concept plan for recreational and interpretive trails on the property. Subsequently, the firm prepared a Public Use Plan documenting the Land Trust’s intentions to broaden activities in the Preserve from forest management to include environmental restoration, recreation, and environmental education.
